Gentlemen:

PVP took place Thursday.  Today is Saturday.  Have a urine bag
strapped to my leg and will have it out on Monday. The operation took
about an hour to do.  With recovery etc it took about 4 hours.

Last night I slept 6 hours straight.  Haven't done that in a very long
time. I'm feeling a whole lot better today than I have in a long time.
So far so good. My bladder is empty.  I think that it hasn't been
empty in a very long time. Perhaps the quality of my life will
improve.  I will keep you posted.

Al, Glad your quality of life is looking up.
After my 1st PVP, I wore urine bag 5 days, & had dark bloody urine and
blood clots for 7 and a half weeks and went into retention various times &
also had a stricture in penis that was opened up about 6 weeks post PVP. 14
months later, after my second PVP (same doctor), I only had urine bag for
one day, and had very few (and tiny) blood clots and much less bleeding.
I've gotten private emails from people asking why I had 2nd PVP. Reason is,
that I was still partially blocked and also began getting the blood clots
and bleeding urine all over again a year after first PVP. Those who follow
this newsgroup will also know that I got sexual side effects after 2nd PVP,
which I didn't get after the first one.

Gentlemen:

Today I took the catheter and bag off.  Slept better last night.  I am
feeling better today than I have in years.  I have yet to pee with my
new member but feel that it will be all right.  So....I had my PVP
last Thursday.  Wore a bag until today.  Feel better.  So far so good.
I will keep you posted.

Ron...

Noticed your response about the 2nd PVP that you had.  Do you know if
there was bladder neck or median lobe involvement in either or both of
the PVPs?  Was the bladder neck involvement that resulted in the retro
during the 2nd PVP?  Thanks. chockman@canby.com

Chockman,
There was work done on a large middle (median) lobe. I believe that he had
to work around the bladder neck both times - but I only got retro from the
2nd Op. I do not know with certainty what caused the retro [which is only
partial retro now].
