I had a TURP performed last May, which helped me for about a month,
and then BPH symptoms slowly came back. My urologist performed yet
another TURP in January of this year, and now BPH symptoms are already
back again, even though after this surgery my uro said he "really
cleaned me out." After each surgery, I was able to pee okay, but the
symptoms always eventually reappeared. Currently, I must pee about 4-7
times before emptying the bladder enough to be comfortable. I pee for
maybe five seconds, wait a minute or two and walk around, then pee
again for about five seconds, and then, as I say, repeat the process
four to seven times. It can sometimes take me 15-20 minutes to
complete the process. I sure don't want to leave things as they are. I
assume the blockage stems from one of two sources: 1) Scar tissue is
growing somewhere, or 2) The bladder is "dead": it no longer can expel
the urine very well. Anyone else ever gone through or heard about
anything like this? Any advice or help you can give me, guys, is
greatly appreciated.

Dave:

That sounds miserable. Good luck. Maybe you need a second opinion and
perhaps look into PVP (although I would think a TURP would do the job).

Are you by chance on Testosterone replacement or some other meds that are
encouraging prostate growth
Do you have any other medical problem thats causing the prostate growth
Did the uro check properly for Cancer

I heard that prolonged use of Alpha blockers can cause a dead bladder,
however I would ask your doctor to be sure.

There is a new procedure called PVP? I heard there is no re-treatment.
Have you looked in to this? I posted a website with some info

Very unusual.  I had a TURP six years ago and have none of your
problems.  My suggestion would be to see another urologist.

hi dave - i can feel for you on this one.  i do have some things to
consider.

have you had a sonic done to see if the BPH is pushing up into the
bladder to form a ring in the bottom.  this may be why you have to walk
around to get the urine to slosh out of the it.   i had this condition,
but it was not the really bad ones that hold back 50 + cc's

the second thing i want to stress to you is that you are probably
pushing with your bladder muscles.  this will make the walls of the
bladder thicker and less likely to flex.  since you get your feeling to
go from the inside stress building of urine, any stiffening of the walls
will give you this feeling of urgency much quicker that you need to go.
also, been there, done that.

finally, i would address the issue of what is causing this rather than
what will relieve the symptoms.  the reason i said it like that is that
you've already had two TURP's and they aren't doing the job, plus the
fact that the surgeon said he cleaned you out real well.  well.......if
that is the case, why do you still have this problem?

i hope this may offer some ideas to go with.
