In defense of flomax

I have had BPH for many years now. I have been on flomax (I am now).

I have to say that for me it has worked wonderfully. It has greatly
increased my flow with MINIMAL side effects (some nose stuffiness, but not
bad). At times it would appear to stop working, but then I would increase
the dosage to 2 pills a day and that would usually jumpstart matters and
eventually I could go back to 1 pill a day.

I know little by little things have worsened in the sense that I have more
"crises," although I've been in a "good streak" of late.

But the GREATEST advantage has been that it has bought me time. When my
problems started, TURP was the "gold standard."  I am grateful that at least
now I have the possibility of a PVP (I haven't seen the PVP doctor yet so I
still am not 100% sure what I really have and if it is amenable to PVP).

But flomax has been great for my situation!!!

Yes it occurred to me that medication would buy me more time and I am
also on Flomax, (I see my GP again on thursday) but I had never
thought of doubling the dose. How does Flomax affect your libido
though. I have only been on it for a month and it seems to have killed
mine already.

Pete:

No effect on libido for me. But, when I increase the dosage (which I don't
do too often) I do get retrograde ejac. I don't really consider it any big
deal (unlike others seem to). I figure it's a small price to pay for relief
of the symptoms. (I still get the normal orgasm sensation but, sadly, no
ejac). With the normal 1 pill/day dosage I have pretty much normal ejac.
