Having rejected TURP because i could not stand the thought of the 4 days in
hospital plus all the risks of complications, bleeding and side effects
never mind having to have a stiff catheter for at least 12 hours and because
with a middle lobe enlargement the drugs do not work (tried them for 6
months ) and theres way less damage using PVP for middle lobe BPH than
conventional TURP

I had PVP done in London yesterday ........went down to theatre at 8.30am
and was driven home at 1pm .......warning though I could not have driven
home and one is advised not to attempt public transport etc
So if you want it done arrange to stay in London for a couple of days or
with friends

Despite a 60 gm enlargement being removed I was able to not need even the
soft catheter they might have needed to use which would have to be removed
next day

Very little bleeding ,slight burning on urination ,pretty strong flow by 3rd
ouput ,makes you realise just how slow, stop start ,weak stream one had got
used to .......no more discomfort than I had already endured from an
irritated bladder due to the BPH .only 1 painkiller tablet in last 24 hrs

The general anaesthetic though light does take it out of you and I will
return to bed for a snooze this pm

Other than knowing I must not try to lift things or push lawn mowers etc for
next 3 weeks I think its unlikely i will otherwise feel any ill effects just
a very positive immediate improvement
Certainly no incontinence or impairment to response nerves ...........will
have to find out about retro in due course
Have to return in 6 weeks for a check so will update then
