My PVP was done on January 2, 2004.   I had two primary objectives:  remove
the urinary blockage; and, minimize pain and discomfort.   After one week,
my PVP rates high on both issues.  Flow starts quickly and is very strong.
There is no straining, trying to finish, nor any burning or pain.
Occasionally there will have a bit of pink urine at the start of the stream.
The procedure itself was a breeze and I walked out of the hospital four
hours later.  Had a cath for 20 hours.  No subsequent pain for discomfort.

Two lesser issues are frequency and urgency.  As the Uro said, they are more
inconvenience issues rather than truly health issues.  I've had problems
with frequency for years.  Two months pre PVP, bladder damage required
surgery which reduced its capacity.  I'm still drinking lots of liquids.
And I'm now off Flomax.  That said,  daytime frequency is about the same,
once every two to three hours.  At night, I'm up once or twice. Urgency, pre
or post, has never been a case of get to the bathroom right now or I'll pee
in my pants.

The Uro said certain changes could take three months.  I remain hopeful that
frequency and urgency will improve over time. But I'm not quite ready yet to
start holding it as a training effort.   Does that even work?   Any
suggestions or comments on how to recondition a bladder?

So far, two thumbs up for PVP.

Hi Dennis. What you may want to do is RELAX. You may see a few "pieces"
in the toilet from time ( I did) & your "color" after peeing was my
experiance also.

One year ( almost) post PVP.<bfg>
