Hi folks,
7 weeks post-PVP and still miserable during the day. Urgency and quite a bit
of pain on urination.
Then it all lets up in the afternoon, and by dinner I'm fine. Good stream,
no urgency or pain. Nights are marked by getting up twice with good stream
and no pain. Then, after the bowel starts filling, by early morning, the
problems start.
After the bowel movement, usually between 6-8 AM, I produce very little
urine, much urgency and pain. I don't think there's a whole lot of volume in
the bladder but I'm not sure. After breakfast, I piss the fluids out, in
small amounts, with frequent trips.......sometimes every 1/2 hour, or even
less! Then, as the day moves on, the further away from the bowel movement I
get, the easier, less painful and less frequent it gets.
One Uro wanted to do a Cytoscope but another advised me that healing takes 3
months and to wait. I'm back on Flomax, and Cipro but whatever is going on
here doesn't seem to respond to anything but an empty rectum...and one that
has been emptied for several hours. Obviously, the stool passing through the
rectum irritates an already sore prostate.
The rectum and the prostate share the same nerves, so there is a synergy
here.
Believe me, it's a total drag, for a good part of the day. Late afternoon
and evening I carry on normal activity without a hitch! I'm seeing the
surgeon on Friday and hopefully there will be some relief, somehow.

Marcus, sorry to see you are not a " happy camper". Who put you on Cipro
& Flomax? You seem to have more than one Uro? Background please.

Hi,
I'm no longer on Cipro or Flomax. My surgeon, Dr. Collins, believes I am
taking an unusually long time to heal due to my kidney transplant. This
presents two problems. First, I can't take anti-inflammatory drugs. Seond,
the immuno-suppressants retard healing. Another Uro, wanted to do a
cytoscope but I cancelled because I was advised that any Prostate surgery
can up to take 3 months (or more) to completely heal and that a cystoscope
was premature.
It looks like a waiting game for me unless there is some new drug or idea
that can make things easier.
