BPH and Long Haul Flying

I recently flew to Tokyo and back from London, about 12 hours each
way. Have been diagnosed with mild/moderate bph for about 6 months
(currently not taking any medication). Although I was drinking water
throughout the flight (although not much more than I would normally
drink) it seemed to me that my frequency was significantly increased
(frequency is one of my symptoms) and I peed a smaller amout each time
than I would normally. My wife noticed the frequency as well and
commented on it. Thinking back over the last few years of occaisional
longhaul flights I can maybe see that this has happened in a small way
before.

Any body else noticed this and have any explanation - I haven't
discussed this with my GP or Uro yet?

Doing long flights between New York and Tokyo were getting harder and harder
due to BPH.  Frequency and Urgency increased significantly on the long
flights.

After PVP, I can now get up only once or twice in a 14 hour flight.

The title should have been "BPH and Flying". It certainly affected me in the
same way

Magna,

Flying and driving became a real misery for me too, even short flights. It
doesn't get better with time either. You could take a Tylenol or harder meds
for a while, but you should planning to have surgery (PVP in my opinion) and
get on with a normal life.

As I've said in an earlier message, my solution to this problem is my
'Uribag' (see www.uribag.com) which has saved me terrible
embarrassment on several occasions. You can use it on a plane
discretely or in a car if there is no private place on the side of the
road. I highly recommend it.

Gary

I remember an old friend I used to meet at gundog trials. He was
forever hanging back with trouble with one of his boots (which
meant he would kneel down and apparently be adjusting his boot
laces!)!

It was only later I learnt he had BPH and was using a discrete
ruse to urinate in an open landscape where ladies might be
present! The bag would have been a much better idea.
