Hi -
My husband has been posting to this group, as he recently had  PVP
surgery (6 weeks ago).  He has been experiencing a lot of intermittent
urgency and pain post-surgery, that seems to have gotten worse recently.  He
spoke with a urologist just now who informed him that the healing process
can take at least 3 months, and that this kind of discomfort is to be
expected.  Basically, the lining of the urethra has been destroyed and is
rebuilding itself.  This leaves the tissues extremely tender and vulnerable.
I wanted to let you all know, because the Laserscope website, which of
course is marketing PVP, presents a rather rosy picture. Also, sometimes the
docs don't inform their patients as well as they might about what might be
expected, or how long healing really takes.  It really helps at least to
normalize these kind of distressing symptoms, to know that they are still
part of the natural healing process.
I wish you all well in your decisions/surgery/healing!

Your husbands symptoms are not typical for PVP surgery, especially
after 6 weeks.  Most people report that the procedure is relatively
painless, and the fact that he is still in pain should be
investigated.  Urgency can be a problem, but it should get better over
time.  I would suggest your husband see another urologist, someone who
is currently doing PVP, and seek another opinion.

Even in TURP, the urgency doesn't go so long, 6 wks!!

There is the possibility that the doc lasing the bladder, trigonal
area (where is very sensitive area).

But, it will heal also.

I definitely agree that his sx is not usual healing process of KTP.
