Is it a simple matter to sterilize a human male during a prostate
exam? Could a doctor do this without the cooperation of the patient?

This is an ambiguous question, do you think it might have happened to you? I
don`t think sterilization is that simple, it would probably involve some
handling of the nuts, even when the prostate is removed you are still not
sterile.

He'd need to cut or close the tube which brings sperm from the testicles to
the urethra and out through the penis.
Farmers use this method of castration (amongst others) on male lambs using
an instrument called perdizzoes (sp?). This crushes the spermatic cord
above the testicles but outside the body without cutting tissue. The cord
can also be tied but that would involve surgery.
I very much doubt that a doctor could do this without the patient knowing
about it, unless he (the patient) was under a general anaesthetic! Brings
tears to my eyes just to think about it.
