A couple of sites I would recommend are:
Bandolier (www.jr2.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/band11/b11-3.html)
e-medicine (www.e-medicine.com/med/topic3071.htm - and /topic1919.htm
is also worth looking at)

Thanks for all your replies! Most useful and it will save my
fingers. I am not just being lazy as I did do quite a lot of
research over a couple of days (minus the interruptions) and was
surprised to find such a lack of knowledge about PVP. Some were
misleading.
Incidentally, a private site at
http://www.sykart.com/keenie/turp/share.html
has a section for comments (Knowledge Share) about BPH. It is
dominated by postings from men who have had a TURP. Only one
posting so far about PVP though I have of course sent in my
story!
If you are wanting to get an escape from the festivities for
half an hour, this might be the place to go. If you have had a
successful PVP, help others avoid the miseries of a TURP!

Thanks again! I am plannning to give fairly basic information
but point the reader to web sites and newsgroups for more
detail. At the moment, I have far too much information but that
is how I want it. Should whittle it down to something really
useful.

Having just told Derry in a separate e-mail that the URL I gave for
the e-medicine BPH article was correct, I've now realised that it
wasn't! Rather oddly, there isn't a hyphen between e and medicine in
the URL - so it should be
www.emedicine.com/med/topic3071.htm
Thoroughly recommended - I think it's a particularly good review of
the history and current practice of TURP, and up to date enough to
include a reference to PVP.
Seasonal greetings to all.

I'll second that. An excellent site! But it did make my eyes
water just to read what some of our ancestors must have endured
-- and that was just the "lucky" ones!
Definitely worth a look.
Thanks, Richard.
