Hi, all,

Recently, I had a cystoscopy performed by my urologist.  Amoung other info
that was recorded was the fact that there is NO lateral lobe involved.
Otherwise, the data indicates that I should be thinking about a TURP or TUMT
(or is it TUMP).  I am scheduled to have an ultrasound performed in about a
week the verify (or strengthen) the findings.

I asked the urologist to explain the procedure(s).  He refered me to one of
the nurses.  She was very informative in what she described.  According to
her,  the TUMP is the microwave approach wherein some of the inside lining of
the urethra  is heated to increase the opening.

The procedure is done in the doctor's office by the Director of Nursing, not
by the urologist.  One all the postings here, I just presumed that the
urologists were the ones  who did all the different ways of improving the
urethra.

Then, I would waltz around for about 3 weeks with a catheter at which time the
thing would be removed.  Also, there is about an 80% success rate with this
approach, and it would be about 8 to 10 weeks before I would know if there was
any improvement.  No comment about retro, etc.

I already know that I will not choose either of these 'cures'.  I will
continue as I am now or make inquiries with the Dr. who is located about 50
miles from where I now live.

Good wishes to all.
Chris

Hi,

You are right to turn down TUMT. If you can't find my experiences or the FDA
warning by searching back on GOOGLE let me know and I will post them again.

Respectfully

Burr
