PVP + WEEK SIX
There has been virtually no change since week three. I continue to have
discomfort and pain throughout the entire urinary tract including the prostrate
when I have a sudden urge to void. This persists during voiding and for a few
minutes after. Other than that there is no discomfort. My stream remains very
strong and the volume is probably around 200 to 300 ml. Urgency is still a
problem. Retrograde ejaculation is still a problem. The curious thing about
the urgency is that sometimes after an eposode of intense urgency I only void
25 ml or so. I would like to be able to better control this but as yet I have
not figured out how. Other than this periodic urgency, I can go 4 or 5 hours
between events. I get up once, sometimes twice a night. I am still very
satisified with the results.
PVP + WEEK THREE
After three weeks the only trace of surgery is some small discomfort in the
prostate area. This seems to occur if I do not drink water for a while and
void. If I stay hydrated there is no problem. Also I have a slight burning
sensation post void. Every once in a while I see a scab in my urine.
Frequency is diminished although urgency has increased. When I have to go
there is no waiting. Nights are usually interrupted by only one call. After
10 days I began jogging again, but slowly. I am now up to about 40 min of
jogging with no adverse effects. Yesterday I traveled by air from Chicago to
Seattle in a center seat and didn't have to leave my seat for the full 5 hours.
Now that is a serious improvement. BPH is insidious. One does not realize
how the quality of life diminishes because it happens so slowly. One adjusts.
Then, after PVP, it improves all at once and the realization comes just how
good life can be. My advise for those that are suffering is find a uro who
does PVP that you can work with and go for it. It is simple fast and mostly
painless. The improvement is short of miraculous. One qualification. I do
have retrograde ejaculation. My uro informed me prior to the procedure that
there was a good chance this would happen. Laserscope has put out data that
says that only 25% of PVP patients suffer from retro. My uro, and another uro
I spoke to, claims it is more like 75%. My sense, from reading this list, is
that 25% is too low. I'm hoping that I return to full function with time. I
was patient # 29 for my uro.
PVP +WEEK ONE
After one week I have a small amount of bleeding that is visible at the end of
each voiding. No pain or discomfort. I'm producing up to 300 ML in about 15
sec. It's like a fire hose being turned on. Frequency seems to be diminishing
but I have no hard data on it. I'm getting up once a night if I sleep 8 hours,
twice if I stay in bed for 10 hrs. Surgery was on Wed and I drove 7 hours on
Sat with no problems. I'm still on light duty and will remain so until the
bleeding stops. So far I couldn't more delighted. These results are far
better than I expected. From what I see so far I would not even bother with
medication and go straight for the PVP.
ORIGINAL POST
So here is one more PVP story. I have had BPH for about 6 years. I have been
on Flowmax for about two years. Lately I have been voiding as much as 10 times
a day and 3 times a night producing only about 100ml per event. Sometimes it
would take me up to

300 ml seems a to be very small amount to void post PVP particularly if you
are only going every 4 or 5 hours, are you drinking enough water. With my
quite large prostate I am concerned that I seldom void much more than 300
ml. at a time.

300 may not sound like a lot but prior to the PVP I was putting out 100 to 150.
If I waited too long to go it might be as low as 50 to 75. So I'm pretty happy
with consistently putting out 200 to 300. I think once my bladder adjusts the
volume will go up.
