Hi fellas,Does anybody have experience of Saw Palmetto's effects on
urgency & frequency? Anybody have loss of libido with it? Magna

I've been using it for a little more than three years.  Works just fine,
without the side-effects described by others in this group's discussions of
prescription meddies for BPH.

I haven't noticed any particular loss of libido

You should mention that, while saw palmetto has few know side effects,
it's also totally ineffective for many people (me included).  Any one
wishing to try it should be aware it may or may not be helpful and
trying it is the only way you'll know.

For my, I found great success with a combination herbs that contained
Zinc and Saw Palmetto.  I had been on Flomax for several years, but
the sal palmetto made a huge difference.

My experience is just like XS11E, no side effects and no effect on BPH.

The last year's posts here tend to indicate that it is generally
ineffective with medial lobe enlargement.

The good news: ------------>

I used it for over five years on a lateral lobe enlargement.  I think it
was effective in getting me down from 3 trips per night to 1 or none.
Generally, urgency was helped as was frequency.  Last "void-out"
showed only 19 ml of urine remaining and that was better than I
could do 8 years ago (65 ml).

I found that it increased libido for a day or two whenever
I started/stopped using it or changed dosage--so my
feeling is that it probably changes some blood levels of
either estrogens or testosterone and that triggers some
pituitary actions.  And, everyone's mileage will be different.

The bad news: ------->

After almost six years of pretty steady Saw Palmetto,
I got very sensitive to it.  End result was several
instances of PE whenever I took more than 3 caps
in one week.  I do keep a bottle in the cupboard as
a "just in case."  Uro found my prostate size/shape
normal after 6 years of use.  ED occurred about the
time I quit Saw Palmetto.  I'm Viagra dependent now.

Mike,
Could you say your age? Maybe that was a factor with the ED.

Sure -- 70 now.  69 at onset of E.D.
Age, prior cycling, prior alcohol, prior tobacco,
prior coffee consumption were all probable
E.D. factors.  With little doubt though, S.P. was
the precipitating factor on the P.E.

Hi Mike,

What do the abbreviations PE and ED mean?  I've been using saw palmetto for
the past year now, so I'm quite interested to know what you're referring to.

Thanks,
Bruce

Things you don't want:
   E.D. = Erectile Dysfunction
   P.E. = Premature Ejaculation
Hope this helps.
