Things are much better at this end. The major inflammatory feelings/pain
have finally gone away, as of about a week ago.

Meanwhile my stream is much better, probably now within normal range but
hardly real good.

My question for fellow BPH sufferers:  did you find that for a long time
your symptoms varied a lot??

They always did. One day it might almost appear normal, a few
days later I'd be worried I was going into retention.

Yes, I mentioned this to the urologist at my recent appointment and he said
that is a regular finding. One of the best answers I had from a urologist
was in answer to my question about the sudden need to go after standing up.
"Gravity" he said.

I have found that in my case it seems to come and go in unison with my
level of stress. It can go from complete blockage with emergency
intervention (catheter) needed which has happened twice in the last 6
years right down to "Problem? What problem? The former is when business
and personal crises are at a peak. The latter is when all is well with
the universe.

As with some people here, I find some triggers send me running to the
potty. The main one for me is when I run water at the sink - yikes!
Gotta go!

I can't find any triggers so far. It comes and goes and it appears to be
independent of my stress level.
