I had a PVP done in Seattle by a "pro" uro who had been doing laser
surgery for ten year before he quickly and proficiently trained and
included  PVP work.

He charged for PVP    $2,148.

Anesthesia  "      "            616.

Hospital - one night          840.

Any U.S. residents who wish to advise me of their rates for comparison
would be appreciated.

Thank you.

If those are all of the costs for your PVP, you did amazingly well, as
in
super cheap.  My bills at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara with Dr.
Laub doing the surgery were as follows:
Hospital        15,595.61
Anaesthesia        752.00
Doctor pre-op      345.26
Doctor operation 2,031.17
These numbers didn't floor me because living in Las Vegas, we are used
to high medical bills.

John, I live in the Seattle area and would be very interested in knowing
the doctor's name and hospital you used.  The email address you see here
for me is intentionally corrupted, so please reply in the newsgroup.

Question:  What is the significance of your use of "pro" in relation to
your uro?

Many thanks.  Pat.

Patrick,    [ in response to your request ]

My uro in the Seattle area is:

Dr. Ernest Norehad
12815 120th NE
Kirkland, WA  98034-3003

425 - 879 - 4646
Fax 425 - 899 - 4649

Head nurse - Linda Schulz

Hospital

Overlake Hospital Medical Center
1035 116th NE
Bellevue, WA  9804

I have had BPH for the last 5 years. In that time I had TUMT -
Prostraton 1998 and Targis in 1999. Neither worked.

In that time I saw 5 different uros - no help, finally as a result of
this discussion group, I discovered PVP. I contacted the manufacturer
and obtained the names of the only two doctors in Seattle. The first
did not talk to me and his head nurse refused to give me the name of a
cured patient for me to get an opinion.

I then called Dr. Norehad, we had a a nice chat and he willingly gave me
the name of a patient to call. I made the call and he detailed the
procedure he experienced.

Dr. Norehad has had 10 years experience with laser surgery and then was
trained to do PVP. I was his 28th patient. The other
5 doctors assumed the usual "God - like" attitude; the two that did the
TUMT were upset that I was not cured as though it was my fault. One had
his head nurse do  the procedure!

Dr. Norehad has now agreed to train other Seattle doctors in the PVP
procedure.
Because he knows how effective PVP is he wants to help cure it. He
doesn't care if he increases his competition as obviously he still one
doctor who abides by the Hippocratic oath.

Dr. Norehad has just returned from South Africa "people tp people"
program with four other local doctors to try to help them with their uro
operations. This was at his personal cost.

He is a decent, friendly, and very skilled doctor. I would guess his age
as in the late 50's.

If you want to discuss this further, call me
at:

206 - 842 - 2416.

PVP is really the way to go. I had no pain, no blood, and a great stream
the next morning when the catheter was removed.
Dr. Norehad is indeed a real "pro".

John Kutina

Here is another Seattle PVP:
Doc 1329
Anethetist 605
Hostpital charges 4003
Total 6937

I find it remarkable that Mr. Kutina's hospital charges were only 840.  I would
guess that is only for the one night's stay.  The surgery room charges must be
missing.
