Confused about vaporization

I'm looking for a hospital in the Netherlands, or surrounding
countries, where PVP is applied. There are sites (Belgium for example)
where vaporization is mentioned to be in an experimental stage because
some patients do have a very strong urge to void for a long time after
treatment.

Reading the optimistic posts about PVP here, I am a little bit
confused and wondering if there might be more types of vaporization
than only PVP.

Vaporization is a very general term.  It could mean electro-vaporization
which is vaporization done by electricity.  I have also seen vaporization of
the prostate done by a plasma (ionized particles)

The PVP discussed in this newsgroup is Photoselective vaporization meaning
that it uses a laser specifically tuned to the right wavelength (532 nm) to
vaporize the prostate tissue without bleeding and must swelling.

Laserscope's Greenlight PVP is not experimental and as far as I know not in
the Netherlands.

So be careful about being vaporized. Ask if it is a Laserscope PVP as every
one here who described their results with PVP had the Laserscope 80W
Greenlight PVP.

Thank you very much Patrick, this will give me some more grip on how
to search.

Hi Jan

There is at least one doctor in England who does PVP and accepts private
patients. We had one poster from the UK who went this route because of
frustrations with their NHS. It cost him about 3000 Lbs. From postings in
the group, we know that PVP is also available in Spain, but not in Canada. I
think, a lot has to do with the state of ossification of the national health
system in the specific country.
Overall, I think, about 10,000 PVP have been performed.

The ability of the authorities to listen is directly
proportional to the loudness at which one can shout. It helps
if a lot of us are all shouting at the same time which is why
this newsgroup is so valuable and why it is important to post!

I liked the reference to a squeaky wheel in another post. On the
whole, civil servants will take the line of least resistance
which is why we must keep up the (polite, gentle but
consistent) pressure. Sometimes it takes a little time to drive
water up hill, but it can be done!<VBG>
