Eight full days after PVP

It is now almost the Saturday After my PVP treatment on the Thursday
before Christmas. There is no pain, no obvious bleeding, and no bad
after effects. I can do everything I was able to do before the procedure.

The only improvement I notice is that my peeing period to completion can
be less than half of what it was before. I still pee only about 15 to
200 mL at a time. This means that the number of times I wake up at night
to urinate has not changed substantially.

What has been the experience of those having this Greenlight procedure
in termof urin volume and frequency in the days and weeks after the
surgery?

Before my TURP+laser (19 days ago), I would pee up to 250 mL at a time
and awake about every 3 hours (twice per night), now I pee up to 600
mL at a time and sleep 6 hours before I pee.  For the first 3 or 4
days after surgery, I still awoke every 3 hours (habit?) but the sleep
time increased over the next 3 or 4 days.  My flow rate is greatly
improved with 600 mL flowing in about half the time the 250 mL used to
take.

The only problem I'm having is that there is still some bleeding at
the start of each stream, increasing later in the day, worse if I've
been more active so I've tried to be a couch potato but that's been
difficult with out-of-town relatives being here since Christmas.  They
leave tomorrow so I'll see if no activity solves my problem.

The main reason I had this done was that my post-void retention had
climbed over the last year from 115 mL to 825 mL so I was at risk of
permanent bladder damage.  At my one-week check-up my PVR dropped to
203 mL.  Hopefully it may drop more at my scheduled one-month check-
up.  What was your PVR before and after the surgery?

My PVR has always ben low if I spent enough time voiding. It would come
in a series of diminishing flows. There always was the temptation to
stop too early. The getting finished with the task seems to be the big
improvement so far. I am optimistic that there will be further
improvement. I long for those 600 mL days.

Isn't 600 ml about 20 ounces ?   I thought I was only having moderate
problems but I  doubt I go over 10 ounces at a time.

That seems about right, one liter is somewhat more than a quart which is
32 fl-oz. Right now I also would be happy to hit 300 mL. If I slept
soundly in my younger days I could hit 600.

Positive: Peeing and BMs much better
Negative: Would be wearing diapers if not for daily keggles. (did not
learn from any urologist)
Retrograde is less.
Fear scarring will set in through time.
Urologists, including the one who did the procedure are sworn to
secrecy when asked questions.
I have to pry answers and read between the lines to come up with the
course of treatment, instead of giving in to their whims: drugs or
another procedure.
