Hi all,

First posting, but have been lurking for some time. I have BPH with about
300-400 ml of retention measured with an ultrasound system, according to my
Uro in Oakland, Maine. He put me on Flomax, which works well, essentially no
side effects. Can take a capsule, and immediately go and workout in gym.
Retention was measured both before and after being on Flomax for 1 month.
Essentially no reduction.

Since Flomax did not reduce retention sufficiently, he is recommending a
TURP. After a bit of web searching, I discussed this with my cardiologist. I
am on Toprol and coumadin for atrial fibrillation. Cardiologist does not
want me off coumadin for the time recommended in various TURP discussions.
He said that PVP seems to be way to proceed.

To that end, does anyone know of a good uro in Maine who has more than a few
PVP's under his belt. If there is no one here, I guess the thing to do is to
go to Boston. The Laserscope website does list several Uro's in Maine who
have various practices in the Portland area.

Reed,
Track down the culprit contributing to your BPH. Alcohol, chocolates,
spices, Viagra, Levitra, and Panalt  will do me in every time, as well
as causing hematuria/clots.
Drugs or surgery will bring you undesireable side effects, it's not
the answer.
