Saw doctor.
Gave a urine sample. Did bladder ultrasound immediately after that.

Bladder was empty.

Did PSA; then DRE.

Doctor feels prostatitis. I had taken cipro for 2 weeks from my family doc.
He said it's not enough.  He gave me 2 more weeks of cipro.

We will then add proscar unless it's a lot better.

Unfortunately, I really messed up my back. Hurt it Sunday night (innocuous
thing-- just got out of car and wham). Today, driving 2 hours there, waiting
there, having a meal and driving 2 hours back, and now I can't stand or sit
without pain. Hopefully it will settle down (I've had my share of back
problems too).

I am so frustrated with having one health issue after another! So consider
this more of a vent than anything else. I already cancelled classes today (I
am a math prof.). I intend to try and teach tomorrow!

===> with the two week course of cipro,  you should get a more accurate
reading on your psa.

===> sorry to hear that.  back back problems are no fun.

===> yeah, getting old is hell.   seems like when you get one thing
fixed,  another part of the body starts acting up.

i was dept head and being up in front of class for a long period of time
is not as easy as what it seems.  especially when you have everyone
watching you.

knowledge is power - growing old is mandatory - growing wise is optional
"Many more men die with prostate cancer than of it. Growing old is
invariably fatal. Prostate cancer is only sometimes so."

Does anyone know a good muscle relaxer that doesn't have urinary side
effects?

Flexeril seems to list prostate problems as a problem
