Hello all,

I called my doctor's office for an appointment and given the symptoms
that I told the screener, she told me to go straight to urgent care.
Crap... this is not what I wanted to do on a Friday night.

My symptoms are increased urination, some lower back pain and hip
joint pain.  The back pain is about two weeks old and the hip pain
about a week. I was going once at night and there were a few nights
where I had to get up twice to pee. But I've been able to sleep
through the night for the past few days.  It's weird, it comes and
goes.  There is some sensitivity over the bladder but only when I need
to pee.

The urgent care doctor checked my prostate and said it felt larger
than normal and a little firm. The last time I had it checked was two
years ago and it was normal.  He asked me if prostate cancer ran in my
family and I told him I have an uncle who got it when he was 83 but
nobody else--and I think he got it treated and seems to be doing ok,
last I checked.  He said right away that it was probably BPH and
ordered the PSA test.

So now I'm waiting for the test results--this is the part I hate--
waiting... In the meantime, I'm reading about BPH and the possibility
that it's caused by increased levels of estrogen.  I'm also
hypothyroid I'm my levels are high right now. I'm taking thyroid
replacement for that.  Anyhow, I'm 43 and I my son was just born five
months ago. I'm going to focus on that.

I can't believe he/she told you to go to urgent care because you were having
some back pain and peeing twice a night (Do you have any idea how many past
and present residents of this group would love to just pee once or twice a
night).  Why didn't you just make the appointment with your doctor or a
urologist.  This doesn't sound like anything urgent or acute to me.   Who
was the twit on the phone that told you to go to urgent care.  I hope it
wasn't just some receptionist.  Good luck...Pete
