I had PVP three years ago with semi-satisfactory results. Suddenly,
this past week I started passing small blood clots.
Has it happened to anyone, years after PVP?
I am scheduled to see my Urologist this week.
Thanks.

I just went through a PVP on 23 January of last year, so I'm afraid I
cannot provide any years-after experience; however, you stated that
your results were "semi-satisfactory".  Can you expand a bit on this?

TIA!

I had the so called then 'miraculus' PVP  in  Jan 2005.
Initial results were satisfactory but as time went by
the frequency, urgency and sream were getting worst.
I was at a point where I was getting up about four times a night.
My bladder was so sleepy and it did not want to void.
Then I discovered a trick that cut the night time bathroom visits to
just one! I am getting up, turn on the lights walk around for a
couple
of minutes and then I go the bathroom and pee standing up. I used to
sit on the toilet before.
It looks to me that the bladder empties almost entirely. Then I go
back to bed and do not have to pee for the rest of night.
In day time I am OK, I can take long walks without looking for the
bushes. I could not do this before PVP.
Any way about the blood clots, I visited my Urologist who scoped me
and found a scar from the PVP and a narrow opening in my prostate. He
is sure that he can fix it with a laser procedure.
I am scheduled for April 1  and I will post then.

Thaks for this information; it's a little peculiar that the diagnosis
is a scar, since the laser is supposed to vaporize tissues, leaving no
opportunity for scarring...but the blood clotting seems to remain
unexplained.

At any rate, I wish you good luck on your repeat attempt...

I had PVP in Jan. of 2005 with a prostate of about 150 grams in size.

Off and on for the past three years I have passed clots and some blood.

A couple of months ago I passed a lot of blood and other ugly looking stuff
and then the prostate started to feel better.  The DR. did a cat scan and
shoved the camera up the urethra for a look.  There was a lot of scar tissue
in the prostate from the PVP.  In fact there was so much he could not find
the hole into the bladder to look inside.  He was concerned about bleeding
from the bladder.  The inside of the bladder does not show up very well on a
cat scan.  He decided to wait a couple of months to see if I have any blood
in my urine.  I have checked daily with some dip sticks, for that purpose,
and it has been ok.

Now we just wait and see.

He also suggested he could do a TURP and clean up the mess inside the
prostate.  I am not interest in that as long as I can go!

Bill...I can't believe he could not get the scope through the scar tissue to
look inside the bladder.  If it is that bad, how the hell are you able to
pee...Pete

The Doc also asked me if I could pee.  I can pee OK.  What I saw on the
display
looked to me like thin pieces of flesh that could move around like clothes
on a clothes line.  There probably was a loose flap covering the bladder
hole.  I think another thing was this Doc does not like PVP.  He had said a
couple of years ago, during one clot passing episode, with a 150 gram
prostate I should have had open surgery not PVP.

When I would ask the Doc that did the surgery about the clots and bleeding
he always said "that's OK don't worry about it"!  That is why I am having a
second opinion.
