why not have a permanent short internal catheter ?

On googling 'TURP', I only found articles dating from before 2002,
Has this procedure been replaced in the first world, now  ?
And I also confirmed:

So since it's only the part of the urethra which passes the prostate,
perhaps 5 cm., which gets squashed and restricted by the growing
prostate, why not just have a permanent tube at this critical
section of the urethra ?

We've seen how a wire around a tree just gets grown-over/around ?

It would be a cheap, effective, permanent solution ?
The rest of the catheter could be removed by either 'cutting it from
inside' or probably easier, by having the permananet section just
'unplug' from the back section which just servers as the inserting
handle.

That's called a stent, and is a viable alternative for those who are not
viable candidates for surgery.

Yeah, many here have had the "Green Light Laser" (PVP) with great
results.  Avoid "TURP".

Appears that maybe HoLEP is a competing procedure:
