Does anyone have any information on the relative merits/track records
between PVP and Holmium Laser?

My Urologist has advised that he's switched to using Holmium vice PVP
because he had ~ 1 in 10 patients who experienced some lasting pain
and discomfort after PVP, some for as long as 4 months...He stated
that although the Holmium laser procedure takes maybe 20 minutes
longer (apparently because it's a bit slower), it's worth it because
he's had NO patients with any such consequences...Evidently he found
that PVP can induce excess heat to those prostate tissues which remain
after a blast, and are slow to heal....

I'd appreciate any views on this....

TIA!

Interesting... you might want to contact Dr. Sancha; I bet he has
views on this, or an explanation. His contact info is on his  blog
site at http://drgomezsancha2.blogspot.com/.

Thanks, Ed; I took a look, but didn't find anything at Dr. Sancha's
web site.

I looked through some of the early posts on this Group and did find
some discussions about this, but the statements made seemed to be just
the opposite to what my urologist had related to me (Homium heats the
surrounding tissues a bit too much while PVP seems to be a bit
cleaner!).  Hope someone else may have some information...

I didn't mean that you would find info about the Holmium laser on his
web site... but you will find his e-mail address so you can send him
an email and ask him about it. Others have asked him things in the
past, and he replies.

I am reluctant to post his e-mail here because it might be picked up
by spammers.
