I am presently taking max dose of Xatral. Can anyone tell me if Flomax is
better?

Although Uroxatrol is not covered on the following website, you can get
patient evalutions on Flomax on the following website:

I have used both and prefer Uroxatrol over Flomax both for its
effectiveness and its fewer side effects. Take a look at the above site
and see what others say about Flomax.

In the course of larger urological issues over the past 5 months, 1
uro said "they are all (alpha-blockers) the same (in dismissing my
questions about uraxatrol)" .My current (second) uro prescribed
Uraxatrol for me after my prostatectomy (with some of the prostate
remaining after surgery). Although I had taken Flomax for years I did
not take it every day (as prescribed) and I noticed few effects . I am
also taking the Uraxatrol sporadically and have again noticed few
effects good or bad. I think a lot of the research online leans a bit
toward uraxatrol. Sorry for muddying the dialogue.
Stay well. Happy Turkey Day..

It looks like the FDA approval on the drug occurred in the early 2002
timeframe. You can read some of the correspondance regarding the
approval at the site below:
http://www.fda.gov/cder/foi/appletter/2003/21287ltr.pdf
I am not sure when Flomax was approved. Maybe someone knows.
