Hi,

I had prostrate infection and my PSA was shooting up again.  It came down to
6 but as infection set in, doctor did not give me antibiotic but told me to
drink lot of water.

However, I started taking raw garlic to fight infection but that would
irritate the wound and it would not go.

Some one wrote on this Newsgroup to avoid chilly, garlic and hot food to
stop irritation and it worked.  PSA fell from 10.6 to 6.0 after six months
and I hope in another six months, it should be normal or 4.

I thought I put this information up for others.

You could also try unsweetened cranberry juice or take cranberry
capsules to reduce PROSTATE (note the spelling)and urinary infection. I
took Levaquin antibiotic and after 21 days, my PSA fell from 40.6 to 15.
I'm having it measured at the end of this week, which would be seven
weeks on the antibiotic. With luck, it will be back to my "normal" 9.5.

(I say normal, because two and three years ago that what the value when
I had 12-sample biopsy, all benign.)

Within two days of starting the antibiotic, I noticed that the bad odor
of my urine, which had been present for over a month, had disappeared.
So my infection was causing the odor. That may be an early warning of
infection for guys to be on watch for.

I have had recurring prostate/bladder infections for several years.
Also had enlarged prostate that was taken care of with a PVP. But
infections kept coming back...antibiotics, would go away....repeat
every few months. The NURSE suggested I take cranberry pill twice a day
and see what happens. Almost 2 years now...NO INFECTIONS. Worked for
me. Forget the cranberry juice, have to drink it by the gallons to have
the same effect.

Interesting.  I'd like to try that also. Which brand are you taking
and in what strength? There seems to be quite a variety of cranberry
supplements out there.

I don't take any particular brand, just get the highest potency available at
the store (walmart, walgreens, etc.) they have on the shelf.
Just had my semi annual PSA and PCA3 test completed and all is well again.
In fact my PSA dropped considerably. Am a firm believer in the cranberry,
sure worked for me. Your mileage might vary, but can't hurt to give
it a try.
