I've been on Dextrol LA for 2 weeks & don't see any difference.
I still get up 4 times a night.
Does anyone have any experience with it & how long it takes to work.

I tried Detrol LA for a month about a year ago.  I too did not find any
difference.  However, I tried it again this year starting Jan 1.  It
took 2-3 months to really see any benefit.  I am still on it and think
that it is helping.

Chockman...This drug is an anti-cholinergic, and specifically a muscarinic
receptor antagonist (as I am sure you know), and IMHO it should start
working right away if it is going to work (certainly within a few days).  I
don't understand why it would take two to three months for you to see a
benefit, and along that same line of thinking, how would you even know it
was the Detrol LA helping, or something else by coincidence.  I believe that
almost any drug that acts on the para sympathetic nervous system (or the
sympathetic nervous system for that matter), should start working very soon.
If not, I don't understand why not...Pete

I can't recite the whys and wherefores.  I can only report my
experience.  My URO told me that indeed my experience was what happened
to many pts of his who took the Detrol LA.  I was forewarned about side
effects and can report that the side effects have been limited to a bit
of dry mouth in the afternoon (after taking it in the am).  I have had
no vision problems etc. That was my major concern since I want to
maintain my active flying status.

I seriously doubt your uro knows any more about it than I do.  What a shame.
Those pills do not take two or three months to start working - no way in
hell.  :-):-) .

I've tried Detrol LA, 4mg, on and off for a few months at a time. I've
kept careful records of night time frequency, and have never seen any
significant improvement.
It also make me quite constipated and is very expensive.
If anyone else has  opinions on how to improve night time frequency,
I'd love to hear them.
