6 weeks after Laser surgery i still go alot & awake 3 - 4 times a night.
Is this normal & when will it get better ?
ddebar - 07 May 2007 15:29 GMT
I had my PVP about three years ago.  The first pee was a strange mix of
pleasure and pain.  Pleasure because the stream was so good.  Pain, because
of the burning.  After a while the pain subsided but I still peed
frequently.   I think going frequently is habit we are forced into when we
have BPH.  Now I sleep thru the night, most nights.  I might get up once per
night.

You can talk to your uro about this but I think what you are experiencing is
normal.

My experience was exactly the same.  For first month or two I continued to
pee frequently - I think because of habit and also because the prostate
tissues are irritated by the procedure. Now, about 2 years post PVP, as
ddebar noted, I go usually once a night (went 3 to 4 times a night before
the procedure) and can hold my urine during the day for a good many hours.
PVP was the BEST thing I've ever done to improve he quality of my life.

Hope this helps.

What do you mean by first 4 months was hell ?
I don't think every 2 hours is good.
Did your Uro say why you can't hold off longer.
Every 2 hours at night is also annoying.

I am now 2 yrs post PVP and only in the last few months have my
nighttime  visits diminished to 1 per night. AT its worst, I was going
every 1.5 hours.   Been taking Detrol LA for overactive bladder for past
four months.  Finally seems to be helping cut down the number of visits
to the bathroom.

Havent seen any change yet.
How long did it take you to see a change
after starting Detrol LA ?

I tried it for a month about 1 year ago, and I too did not see
any change.  When I started it again in Jan 07, it took 2-3 months
to really see any change.  After being on it now 4.5 months, I
believe that it is actually helping.
