Hi,
New to board.  Shouldn't found it a long time ago.
Unfortunately, I've had complete Urinary Retention for 2 1/2 months
and have been wearing Foley Catheter (infected or blocked on 4
occassions).
I also (due to wheelchair, narcotics for Osteonecrosis of Hips and
removal of Zelnorm from market, my only effective treatment for
constipation) have been severely constipated...14 days.
  I have become dehydrated.
MD ordered Gallon Jug of Peg 3350, to purge me.  I did it yesterday
at 3:30pm.  However, only small results...a little more this morning
and no matter how much I drink still feel absolutely dehydrated, and
still "stopped up".  My MD is stumped but he still insists I go ahead
w/surgery.
Outside of MANY concerns, my pressing one is...if I'm this
constipated prior to surgery (having tried just about all treatments
over years, and once again...no more Zelnorm)...I truly am very
concerned that even if the surgery goes ahead...all I'll need to do is
"strain" one too many times...and I'll mess up any progress the
GLSurgery on prostate will do.
I was surprised they approved me for surgery a few days back.

My MD's rarely call me back or come on the telephone.  And just found
out that the time was moved up to 6AM (7:30am surgery) for early
Thursday morning...it's now 6PM Tuesday night.

I am already in weakened state for doing that peg 3350 gallon
solution.
--------------------
Anyway...how painful is this surgery *especially upon awakening?
------------------
BTW, although it state greenlight laser surgery on sheet I
received...last month he told me he would "go in" and then decide
what's best?

Hope he doesn't end up zapping out Hemmorhoidal tissue instead of
prostate......................  :)   (although I"m not really smiling)

It's only been removed from the market in the US, Canada, and
Switzerland (maybe other European countries). If you want to take the
risk:

I'm sure there are other sellers outside the US, too.

Just a word of warning.  They blow up a water balloon inside of you that
holds the catheter in.  This makes you feel like you need to have a bowel
movement.  I pulled myself out of bed and strained to try to have a bowel
movement.  This caused me to re-start to bleed.  When the doctor (Dr. Lin)
realized what I had done, he gave me something that made the urge to have a
bowel movement go away.

If they can dig out the inside of your prostate, surely they can remove some
poop via a much bigger orifice prior to the PVP.

Makes you wonder, what kind of kid decides that, when he grows up he is
going to be a urologist!
