Since having a diagnosis of BPH a few years ago my symptoms are now such that I feel surgical intervention is looming ever closer.My preferred therapy is PVP & I would like to know if this is available on the NHS in Yorkshire preferably in the Harrogate/York area.My second question relates to my PSA which has remained around 10 for the past 5 years or so. I have had 5 biopsies over the last ten years which were negative so would it be risky having PVP which would not harvest any tissue for detailed analysis? When living in Scotland I asked to be referred there by my NHS consultant. That was in September 2004. I had the initial appointment in January 2005 and the procedure in June 2005. My PSA in the ten years prior went from 5.2 to 9.4 and eventually down again to the 6's. Derek, Thanks for the reply, Newcastle sounds ok to me. I have an appointment later this month so I'll mention Newcastle if its not offered. You need to be pushy to get referred to another NHS area as you are entitled to be if the procedure you need/want is not available or if the waiting times are shorter. Derek.. |
