Improvement has been slow but nothing spectacular. Probably the biggest
improvement is that I don't have to strain to start peeing. There is
still a hesitation, but if I wait, I don't have to strain. The stream
is a little better, but nothing to brag about. I don't have to go as
often, but that means about once an hour while awake. I think I can
improve on that with time. I'm still getting up 2 to 4 times a night,
but I think part of that is force of habit. My blood pressure was up
last weekend, so I stopped taking the urecholine which Dr. Laub
prescribed. My BP returned to normal so I started the urecholine again,
but I am monitoring my BP closely. There may have been other factors
affecting my BP. We shall see. I can't tolerate high BP or even
slightly elevated BP due to my cardiology history. I am optimistic and
looking forward to better things to come.

James,
The following is just a humble feeling on my part. It appears that you are
still in BPH mind set. - A stir in the bladder and, " I better go before
it backs up and shuts down". Maybe you could try to hold it a bit longer and
drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I'm sure the bladder will regain
some of its elasticity with time. If I'm not mistaken there are some
training methods to gain control of urination after some operations. Maybe
this could be of some help to you too.
After PVP I used to pee in calibrated beaker and measured quantity, time and
max flow from 5 seconds readings. It could pee on command every hour or two
but the quantity and flow rate was low. When I held it longer, the quantity
and flow rate increased too. Now after five month, I can easily hold 1-2
hours with some urge to go, just like when I was young. When I finally go,
it works each time and the quantity is good. Prior to PVP, if I held it too
long, it only trickled and I had to sit down with agony.
I've noticed, that rates depends a lot on the state of relaxation and what
I've been drinking. Walking or physical work makes me pee at over 30 ml/sec
but sitting, standing or if I'm cold it flows between 15 and 20. Drinking
water and green tea speeds things nicely.
Good luck
Fred Henzi

Thanks for the encouraging words, Fred. Since you have been there, you
understand that it ain't easy to change a long standing mindset. I
suppose that it's a bit discouraging to those of us who don't get
immediate relief after reading all the PVP success stories. I am seeing
a few posts about guys who are experiencing gradual rather than
instantaneous improvement and that is encouraging.

Gents,
You both are describing my status after 25 days PVP. Still believe there is
a pot of gold but wondering when I will find it.
Some days I have excessive frequency and constant full bladder feeling.
Next day things seem to be normal. Do not know he pattern the changes
things.
