PVP Severe Complications

Hello,

I had a PVP 7 month ago by Dr. Bachmann at Basel University hospital.
My prostate was 100 gr.
At first, it seemed to be a fast and normal recovery but after 6 weeks
I've got an infection (suffered from chronic inflammation before the
operation), that was followed by sever bleeding and sloughing of
necrotic tissue. This lasted for 6 days. After that things began to
heal but in a much slower pace. After 6 month it seemed to by
stabilizing, but then, without any early warning sign the bleeding
came back. Now I have blood in the urine at list once a day, after
which the prostate seems to be expanding and causing very small flow
rate during urination. Sometimes there are small necrotic pieces the
the urine.

I have tried anti-inflammatory drugs with antibiotics for the
inflammation for two weeks but with very little success. Now my
urologist is talking of a new operation - TURP this time, because the
PVP had obviously such poor results.

I'm skeptical of a new procedure, because is its an inflammation
related problem there is no guaranty it will not return after the TURP
too.

Any ideas how to tackle this?

Thanks

becnam

Hi

I certainly have no idea how to resolve your issues, but you might try
sending a message to Dr. Sancha of Madrid, who participated in this
newsgroup some months ago. Dr. Sancha is a very helpful urologist and
most likely will respond to your email (although he is a very busy guy
too...)

The following is from his sig used in his newsgroup posts. You can
find contact info on his web site.

Fernando Gómez Sancha

Good luck.

Hi Ed,

Many thanks for your reply. i wrote Dr. Sancha and he had already
replied with some valuable advise. In short, he recommends trying to
understand the problem before a second operation.

Thanks again
