Leaking

If I get the Laser, I'm worried that the leaking I have now will
become worse.  The leak is just a trace amount and happens mostly when
my bladder is full, although it does happen when it isn't. Sometimes
it feels like my bladder is pumping away and I can't stop it.  When I
say trace amount, I mean it is barely enough to wet my shorts, but I
stick a tissue in there just in case. What a great thing, huh?
Anyway, has anyone had this symptom before PVP and what were the
results after?

Thanks for the posts.

Just a wild guess on my part.  I wonder if your leaking is because you
are not emptying out.  Before PVP I didn't leak but was retaining quite
a bit.  Now I empty.  My problem is that I don't have the volume I would
like to have.  Maybe 10 oz (300 cc) maximum.  But at least when I go it
is fast!!

I don't think so. When I have tested (urinating in the funnel) the
ultrasound showed my bladder empty.  Seems to happen more during the
week when I'm at my office job and less when I'm working around the
house.  Dr. Laub suspects that due to my lack of sex for a few years,
that muscle has weakened.  Maybe I just need a woman....occassionally.
Anyway,  I'd hate for it to worsen.  It's already difficult to handle
emotionally.

Thanks for the feedback though.

Maybe someone else can jump in here, I really can't see how a laser
treatment is going to help.  We are mostly bph guys that have trouble
emptying out and due to restricted flow.

I had similar leakage before my PVP - nothing serious, just a few
drops now and then.  That has pretty much gone away post-PVP.  Like
somebody else said, my volume isn't great (but it never was), but it
comes out FAST, and stops immediately when I'm done.  No leaks, no
complaints.  PVP was about a year ago.

Did you have retention?  I would expect that leakage might be due to
that but he says his bladder empties.  I would still have several ounces
in my bladder after going.  Now almost empty every time.

Unfortunately, I am part of the "bhp guys".  Low flow, some days have
a constant urge and go every hour or so.  Most night, I'm up at least
once to pee.  Then, there's this damn leak that is worse when I have a
full bladder.  I have tried the Kegal exercises and it did help....a
little, though not much.  Both uros said they don't really know why I
leak.  Unless I went into retention, I'd rather live with the bhp
symptoms, than have a worse leaking problem after PVP.

Try the Kegel exercises.

I have never had a leaking problem before my PVP 2/23/05.  However,
before my PVP, I talked to a 79 yr old patient of my URO who had a PVP
1/19/05.  Before his PVP he was having a leaking problem.   He reported
that after his procedure he no longer had his drip.  He was a very
satisfied customer and was very happy with his outcome.  "I hardly think
about my prostate anymore."  That is one man's experience.
