Hi group: Because of the formation of a huge bladder stone (removed in
March), I finally had the conventional outpatient TURP surgery
Wednesday November 15th. It was for median lobe enlargement with a 28g
gland. There was very little bleeding, and everything went ok. I did
have a catheter in for 2 days which was not fun. I have to take an
anti-biotic for 6 days, and take Pyridium as needed. I also have a
prescription for pain.
My question to the group is how long does the mild bladder pain and
burning discomfort during urination last? I know when I had the bladder
stone taken out, I had some pain, but not so much burning. Thanks, Corky

I had a TURP in 98. The only pain, which was a mild burning sensation, was
when urinating. As I recall now it only lasted about a week gradually
decreasing each day. I too was given pain medication and I took one the
first night, which I really didn't need, and none after that.
