I had my prostate cooked for the third time today. The first time was a
Prostatron treatment. It gave partial relief for a few months. At the time,
the other brand name for equipment used a lot was Targis. Somewhere, along
the line IIRC Targis and Prostatron merged. Just after the time my first
treatment was completed, water cooling was added to the technology. I think
the benefits at that time were overhyped.

After a year or so of half-assed treatment I went to another urologist
closer to were I lived. He seemed to think that it was time to try TUMT
again. He used Thermatrx equipment. The benefit from that was even less.

Now about three years later, I went back to him. He said that the water
cooling technology was much better than what I had going. I was willing to
go straight to TURP but he argued that I can always get the TURP if the TUMT
fails. He talked me into it.

He had also used laser resection, but I do not think that it was PVP. He
gave it up and went to TUMT using new Prostratron equipment that ues water
cooling.

I underwent the treatment today. If the feeling of heat and pain is any
guide, then I got cooked more thoroughly than the previous two times. The
process took 30 minutes but seemed much longer. I feel somewhat
uncomfortable but not too bad. The biggest problem is that urine is finding
its way around the outside of the catheter. It is enough to wet clothing,
not merely moisten it. I have resorted to using an of these adult diaper,
but I do not know if that will be adequate.

I will keep the group informed of my progress if there is any interest.

It was a rough night! Leakage around the catheter caused severe pain at the
tip of the penis. I had great difficulty sleeping. I took another gram of
acetaminophen without benefit. I then tried an OTC naproxen tablet. It also
did not help. Finally, I found some three year+ old hydrocodone tablets from
my previous TUMT treatment. I did not need to use any at that time. The
hydrocodone finally enabled me to sleep soundly for a few hours.

The uro's nurse called this morning to check on me. She rassured me that
what I am going through is normal for this treatment.

What I wonder about, is how did someone decide to go first!
