Bladder stone & BPH

Today I learned I have a bladder stone & enlarged prostate. (cystoscope
with a
monitored screen)
This new uro who I thought was 50/50 (conv / non-conv) turned out to be
the
cut, burn, drugs kind of guy. His non-conventional side is being the
seller of
supplements.
He did not make any comment to my high Estradiol or DHEAS, his only
concern
was to do a biopsy, since I've only had one, not enough for his book of

business.
On 7/14 at my suggestion I got a prostate massage expelling 2 prostatic
fluid
drops, (thinking drainage was my answer for no erections) blood work, &
urinalysis, his comment "'you have an enlarged prostate".
Today, after the Dx, wanted to schedule me for a green light PVP and
surgery
for the removal of the bladder stone.
I asked won't diet reduce the stone & prostate size?
No, surgery is the only way.
Also, he said there's a 50/50 chance my sex life would return
(retrograde is
here to stay) and I'm to be on Proscar for the rest of my life.
I left his office to hopefully never return.
The uro who perfomed the TURP (04/20/05) never caught the stone and did
an
incomplete job.
The second uro who did two cystoscopes (las visit 02/21/06 ) and under
his
care for nine months also did not catch the stone.
Will Omega 3 foods, flax oil, etc disolve the bladder stone and reduce
the prostate size, welcoming the good old days?
Thanks
Ramon

Hi Ramon,

You probably won't find a great deal of support on this newsgroup for
the dietary approach.  The favored treatment hereabouts is PVP.

If you want to know about the dietary approach, you might try Larry
Clapp's website.
http://www.prostate90.com/

I myself had a successful PVP, but only after trying alternative
methods (omega 3, other dietary changes, removing amalgam fillings,
etc.).  This is not to say that alternative means won't work for you,
or that they didn't work for me.  I think that what I learned from
Larry Clapp helped me to lower my PSA, for one thing.  And that's
important!  And to live a healthier lifestyle.  It just didn't enable
me to pee.  Maybe it would have in the long run.  But I decided not to
wait any longer.

I continue to follow the dietary changes I've already made.  I'm very
glad for them, even if they didn't cure my BPH.  And--it's a delight,
after my PVP, to be able to pee!

I think of myself as benefitting from the best of both worlds:
alternative and allopathic.

I had a huge (one inch) bladder stone removed in March. It wasn't
picked up on two IVP dye X-ray scans taken in 2004. This year my
urologist called for a regular X-ray, and the stone showed up clear as
a bell. Stones can irritate your bladder and possibly cause an
obstruction, so I would have it removed surgerically. It's not too bad
of a procedure except for a catheter being used for a day.
