Thanks to those replies from my last post about my 83 yr old Dad seeing a
country doctor.
He did get to see a (small) city doctor, a specialist of some sort, who has
recommended a biopsy and an ultrasound.
Can any harm come from the biopsy? Or is it a necessary step in diagnosis of
BHP? (Only symptoms at this point are blood in urine, bone scan negative).
Dad is in very excellent health otherwise.

It's a neccessary precaution. Like taking your blood pressure in case there
may be a heart problem or testing blood in case you have have diabetes.
Just commonsense, normal procedure and nothing to worry about. Personally I
found a biopsy unpleasant but most report that they take it quite well. So
I asked for, and got, an anaesthetic the second biopsy. That's worth
considering if the patient is a coward -- like me.
