Has anyone had the "cooled thermo therapy" treatment?  If so, any
problems or recommendations?

Hi Jim...

There are many comments on this website about "cooled thermo therapy"
which is also known as the TUMT (Trans Urethral Microwave TherapyP of
the prostate.  You can find information search on the web for TUMT.  One
source is http://www.urologix.com/pat_CTT.html.....There are other
providers including TherMatrix which is another device used for TUMT.

I had Prostatron 2.5 TUMT July 2, 2004 and it helped for a few months.
However, the TUMT did not clear the entire urethral channel and I had a
PVP (green light laser) Feb 23, 2005.  Knowing what I know now, I would
have skipped the TUMT and gone directly to the PVP.  Check out
laserscope.com for further information.  The biggest risk in PVP is
retrograde ejaculation.  This is troublesome for some and not for
others.  Be happy  to answer any questions if you want to send me direct
email.  chockman@canby.com

I had the Targis TUMT over a year ago.

http://www.urologix.com/uro_Targis.html

At best it is supposed to be 85% effective.   Other doctors say about
50%.  The least invasive and done in the doctors office.  Wide awake for
the whole procedure.  A few sharp pains when the insert stuff!!

It didn't do anything for me.  I then had PVP two months ago.  It of
course is done with a general anesthesia in a hospital and most likely
will result in retro.

If you have not already done so, please take a look at the AUA site
about various methods of treatment of bph...

http://www.auanet.org/guidelines/bph.cfm

Lots of comparative information about the various approaches to bph
treatment.
