Re-post Median Lobe

Hello Group: I recently had a TRUS and prostate biopsy with no cancer
present in any of the samples. My prostate size is 28 grams and my PSA
number is .07. The only problem I have is an enlarged median lobe,
which slows up urine flow. I currently take flomax and avodart, and my
urine retention is 22cc. My urologist doesn't do PVP, but he has no
problem with me going to someone else. He told me that he had a few
patients return for conventional surgery after having PVP Greenlight,
and that's why he hasn't got onboard with the new technology.
He also said that my condition only needs a TUIP or minor TURP, because

there is not that much tissue which needs to be removed. At this point
I'm not sure of where to go from here. I do know one thing. My
condition caused the formation of a one inch bladder stone blasted out
of me in March. I DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN. Anymore advice
would be appreciated. Thanks, Corky

If anyone's interested in what I'm talking about, I've put up some
picture links.(case sensative)

corky,

The numbers you present would seem to be the envy of most of us in this
NG.  Clearly the issue is with stones and passing them.  Did your uro
have any advise for you in that regard?

As for the success or failure of PVP, we and the doctors are all human.
None of the available procedures is akin to simple auto tune up stuff.
Their are great doctors and not so great doctors.  And even the great
ones have failures (though probably not as often as those who are not
so great).  And, many uros have only one procedure with which they make
their money.  So, if you decide to go the surgery route (which I did -
PVP - as a last resort), please do your homework, get informed, and
find a gifted uro you can work with as a consumer of medical services.

Best of luck.

Charles
