Another Median Lobe Question

Hello Group: I recently had a TRUS and prostate biopsy with no cancer
present in any of the samples. My prostate size is 28 grams and my PSA
number is .07. The only problem I have is an enlarged median lobe,
which slows up urine flow. I currently take flomax and avodart, and my
urine retention is 22cc. My urologist doesn't do PVP, but he has no
problem with me going to someone else. He told me that he had a few
patients return for conventional surgery after having PVP Greenlight,
and that's why he hasn't got onboard with the new technology.
He also said that my condition only needs a TUIP or minor TURP, because
there is not that much tissue which needs to be removed. At this point
I'm not sure of where to go from here. I do know one thing. My
condition caused the formation of a one inch bladder stone blasted out
of me in March. I DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN. Anymore advice
would be appreciated. Thanks, Corky

If anyone's interested in what I'm talking about, I've put up some
picture links.(case sensative)

Corky, I'm sorry to hear about your problems.  I'm not familiar with the
conditions that cause bladder stones and I hope I never have to become
familiar with them.  I'm not questioning your URO's word, but I haven't
read about anyone on this ng who had "conventional" surgery after a PVP.
That doesn't mean it didn't happen, but I'm not aware of it.  A TUIP
should not be approached as something minor.  Please check the archives
on this site for TUIP info.  I had one and it is no picnic.  Also, what
the hell is a "minor TURP"?  I'm guessing a minor TURP is still major
surgery.  If the operation would only remove a small amount of tissue, I
would want to know specifically what a TURP would do that a PVP would
not do.  Incidentally, I have had a TUNA, a TUIP and a PVP, none of
which worked.  I may seek out another PVP, but I won't agree to a TURP,
unless the URO can prove to me it will be more successful than another
PVP.  I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just giving my slant on things.
Either way, good luck and I'm sure you will make the right choice.

James... I basically agree with you and have made reference to my previous
TUIP and TURP in here many times...Pete

Look into a PVP done with a Holmium laser.   I had one for severe urine
retention to remove part of the median lobe. Some Drs. swear by Holmium
over Green Light.

Corky,
I've had two TUIP's and one PVP.  I'd recommend going with the TUIP since I
had no retrogade ejaculation from both of them.  The PVP did cause retro.
