Hi, anyone have an experience with Dr. Lin of St Augustine Florida?  I need
to have a PVP procedure and I am considering having it done by Dr. Lin who
has done more than 200 PCP procedures.

Any feed back would be appreciated?

Bill,

I am probably only one of many folks on this NG who will sing Dr Lin's
praises to you.  His name and credentials have appeared on this NG for some
time now.  I'm fortunate enough to live in St Augustine, and so I've been a
patient of Dr Lin for nearly 10 years now.  At first impression, you might
think him aloof and abrupt, but you'll soon see that his outward demeanor
hides a caring, competent, knowledgeable, and direct human being who seems
to feel a strong stake in his patients' well-being.

He did my PVP in Dec 04, had to remove some scar tissue afterward, and I
couldn't be more pleased with Dr Lin's work.  (I also have an ileostomy too,
so my bladder is 'tipped,' having caused pooling of urine and subsequent
recurrent UTIs and prostatitis episodes, and through all the procedures and
medications that Dr Lin has provided for me, including the PVP, he has been
concerned, easily accessible, and always right on the money.)

So, Bill, I recommend Dr Lin highly.  (Perhaps you might want to visit his
PVP website at http://www.laserurology.com/index.html .)

On recommendations offered on this group, I became Dr. Lin's  111  patient for
a PVP procedure to take care of a 93 gm prostate (September 2003).  I can't
recommend him (his expertise) high enough.  He and/or his office will even
return telephone inquiries.

My wife and I drove 63 miles to his office for an intitial visit and then
again to the hospital.  We stayed at a motel close by to get to the admissions
at 7:00 am.  The procedure went without problems, and I stayed overnight in
the hospital. (A spare bed was brought into my room for my wife to sleep in.
She was also provided with meals IN MY ROOM)  I was released the next day
after noon (when my urine ran clear of blood).

Both the hospital staff and Dr. Lin telephoned to inquire about how I was
getting along.

Later, I had a follow-up visit and PSA test.  Before the procedure, I had a
PSA of 18.6 (negative biopsies),  3 months after the procedure, my PSA was
down to 13._.

I am now with my local urologist and my PSA is 10._, and all is well.  Except
maybe that I have retrograde ejaculation, but at 77years old, that's not a
problem for me.  (Be aware that if you currently are being treated by a
urologist who doesn't do PVP, and you decide to have Dr. Lin work on you, your
current uro will likely be offended and you will have to look for another uro.
He'll drop you.  Mine did, and I finally found another who seems to have a
broader mind about the new technology.

Best wishes to you.

Thanks for the feedback. I will travel 347 miles to see Dr Lin and I think it
will be worthwhile.

I used Dr. Lin for my second PVP and I would recommend him. I traveled from
Georgia to see him. As a matter of fact, I have advised Dr. Lin that I would
like him to be my regular URO.
