One of the questions that I failed to find an answer to was related to
knowing whether or not a person has an enlarged prostate gland.

For example, if some man that was 65 years old drunk two glasses of water
and did not urinate for 8 hours or more hours--could that be a sign of an
enlarged prostate gland?

No.  I think maybe the opposite.  The enlarged prostate might be
urinating a couple ounces every two hours.

Thanks--that makes sense. I'm going to download the list mentioned
in the prior post.

Most likely it means he ate a pizza or other salty, filling food.

If he often pees six times in 8 hours, then it is possible he has a
prostate big enough to interfere with urination.

Ed,
Thanks--I'll download the list. In my case--when it happens--it's probably
due to the kidney problems. Salty foods cause it to happen. I now avoid
salt since I retain it.

Don't understand what you are getting at Jason.  Are you saying the man
never got the urge to urinate until 8 hours.  BPH (or any kind of blockage)
usually will result in an urge feeling, and difficulty urinating, along with
possible retention.  Your question is way too general, and why the man
didn't urinate for 8 hours could be caused by a whole bunch of things (eg
kidney problems - and you said you have kidney problems in your other post).

A simple digital exam is the easiest way for a doc to guess if you have an
enlarged prostate, but like "chockman" pointed out in your other post, that
is a variable type thing (ie a person can have a small prostate with
blockage, or a larger prostate with no blockage).

Pete,
Thanks. In my case, when it happens, it's probably related to kidney
problems instead of an enlarged prostate gland. It seems that any foods
that have excess amounts of salt cause it to happen. I now only eat salads
at restaurants and carry my olive oil (no salt) with me into restaurants
since I have no control on how much salt the cook makes use of in regular
food.
