Been with this group since the first years of PVP and Patrick. During that
time I saw my PSA go from 3.5 to about 7. Had TUMT about 4 years ago all it
did was hurt like hell.
Had PSA done last fall and it was 6.5 ( good news).Had PSA 03/06 and it
was 8.5,this concerned my doc and we had ultra sound with 10 biopsy
sites, now the good news. NO CANCER. My point and the docs is us guys with
BPH need to watch our PSA ,but prostate size, prostitis family history may
cause high PSA and is not always an indication of cancer.

Frank,
That's got to be quite a relief.  I work with a guy who's waiting for
the results of a prostate biopsy to come back, and he's on pins and
needles.  It's nice to hear some good news once in a while.  As for
that TUMT, sorry to hear of your poor outcome there.  Has ANYBODY had
good results with one of them?

Prior to having a TURP in 98 my PSA went from 4 to 17 over a period or
several years.  Had a couple of bios during this period, all negative.
After TURP it dropped back to 4 and has remained there ever since.  My PSA
has never been much below 4.  Doc said increased PSA fairly common in those
with bph.

Frank, I hate to burst your bubble, but one negative biopsy doesn't
mean you don't have cancer.  It only means it wasn't found in the
biopsy samples.  I would monitor your psa very carefully over the next
few months.  If it continues to rise you should repeat the biopsy.  A
rising psa always needs careful monitoring.

hi frank - i agree on hating to burst your bubble, but will add a
comment that will ease your mind.

have a psa II or sometimes it is called a "free psa" test ran.  this
measures the free psa in the body that is not attached.  it normally
runs above 25.  as the individual develops prostate cancer, that number
will drop as the psa number starts to rise. so you will be able to get a
better picture of what's going on.

with all of this said.  i'm wishing you a high free psa number.
