Hello all

I'm a Prostate Cancer patient who had (and still has) prior BPH,
(72 cc), EB Radiation and then HDR Brachytherapy in mid July 2005,
where they basted my prostate to a huge blistering mass.
I left  hospital wearing a Foley Catheter for 4 wks and then did some
voiding trials to find I was still retaining 100-110cc, and had bad
urinary problems at night, like waiting for a start and then not
passing too much. For some reasons really bad frequency is 1 hourly
and otherwise 2 hourly.

I have self-catheterisation kits, but never used them for fear of
infection (which I've seen in others), plus I wanted to retrain the
bladder sphincter to do it's own thing ASAP.

I had another voiding test done of late and I was retaining 250cc!,
done early morning .

I eventually got to see the Uro and had a Flexi-Cystoscopy to check
for Scar Tissue and see if the bladder walls were OK. I noticed some
partial stricture of the Urethra in the Prostate section and the
Indian Dr. muttered "you would benefit from a TURP".
This was done around 10:00 AM, when I don't seem to have too many
problems urinating, except a feeling that there's
After the Lidnocaine had worn off, they gave me a Flow Test plus
another retention test. I was logged at retaining 103cc (close to
original.)
However, the Flow Test was logged at 14Q (which I don't understand.)
Could someone advise me what the 14Q could mean, and how does it rate
against "normal" flow?
(the Indian Dr. said "it was as expected.) ??

I'm booked for a pre-TURP consultation May 06, with the original OZ
Uro who did the Implant for the HDR Brachytherapy.

Nobody knows the flow rates?
Researched myself and found the "low" flow rate to be "15ml/sec." , so
I need a TURP @ "14Q".
BTW, where I typed "cc" should be "ml" .... Smae thing - whatever...
lol.
