Only comment i can give is if I forget and miss the pill I notice the i
start to get a slight background urge to go pass water.
Not that it gets worse though I never missed 2. On 1 a day no issues
except for partial retro..

What is "partial" retro?
Derek.
I have tested half dosage daily, full dosage ever other day and every 36
hours because of extra low blood pressure.
I couldn't pee so I'm back to .4 MG daily and feel ok. Guess I adjusted to
the low bp.

I guess everybody has a different experience. I'm gonna paste
something I wrote in a different thread:
"I use Flomax occasionally, in small doses. I open a capsule, pour the
ingredients onto a piece of paper, divide it into thirds, and put each
of those small quantities into a new capsule. (You can buy empty
capsules.) This does the trick for me and minimizes the side effects."
Futhermore, I take that small dose only about every 4 or 5 days. It's
a only a tiny amount, but it actually improves my stream for several
days.

That's amazing Bruce...I don't know what its half life is (I could check the
package insert) but its not in terms of days. Its hard to believe that
dividing one capsule in thirds helps you for 4 or 5 days. I don't doubt
you, but it almost sounds like a placebo effect :-) ...Pete

It amazes me too! But I've seen it happen too many times to doubt it.
It kicks in initially at about 6 hours, just a bit, and the maximum
benefit seems to happen at about 20 hours. It's very gradually downhill
from there, over the next few days. I'm just glad to have a way of
taking it where I can't feel side effects.
Unfortunately, my stream has been gradually decreasing over time, and
I'm looking at the likelihood of PVP in the near future. I'd rather do
that than increase the Flomax dosage. I strongly dislike the idea of
taking any medicine at all. Who knows what Flomax is doing to all the
other organs in my body?!

You still have Flomax in capsules? I thought they were discontinued about
last August - at least in the UK.
The current product is Flomaxtra XL which is a orangey-yellow pill which is
designed to give an even release over 24 hours, much better than the 'peaky'
dosage given by the capsules.

I bought some here a month and a half ago in capsules. (I live in
California.) But now you've got me concerned about whether I'll be able
to buy the capsule form in the future. It's important to me so I can
measure out the small dosage that works best for me.
Can your orangey-yellow pills be broken up with a razor into fractions?

They sell inexpensive Pill cutters at any pharmacy or Wal-Mart, K-Mart ect.

Yes you can - but the directions specifically suggest you do not do this as
it will interfere with film coating dosage regulation mechanism.
I quote from the info leaflet "The tablets must be swallowed whole and not
chewed, broken or crushed, as this would stop the prolonged release action
from working."

Having said that then as the basic formulation is the same I would assume as
you are used to using the capsule delivery type then that would not be a
problem.

Just curious... does anyone know what would happen if you DID crush
the pill, with the intention to get quick release?

Bruce...don't panic. I don't see why you can't still buy the capsules. The
pill slurp was talking about is just another version (doesn't mean they are
going to cancel the original). Call the pharmaceuticl company and ask
them...Pete

I don¹t care so much about the form of the pill, I just wish it was
available as a generic. My HMO recently more than doubled the copay for
brand-name drugs.
