Simple urodynamics almost closed me down. 1) the tubing hit a
constriction in the urethra, causing inflammation for a few days; 2)
liquid forced into bladder stretched it, causing lessening of desire to
urinate for a few days. Now I face cystoscopy and wonder whether this
will lead to need for catheterization. I have been advised to pre-empt
inflammation by taking ibuprofen, but others have said that this will
cause bleeding. Does anybody have relevant experince or information?

If you need to do it, then get it done.   But your doctor will tell you if
you should take ibuprofen, not this newsgroup.  If uro-d almost closed you
down, why wouldn't your doctor have put you on an Alpha blocker right away?
As for cysto-y, you should ask Doctor.  But I'd also ask for a couple of
Cipro (anti-biotics) and take one right away, after cysto is removed.   Then
one 12 hrs later.  But, really, it won't matter much since the entire
channel handles urine which is not sterilized anyways.  You need to
understand the source of your inflammation and be sure your doctor is
watching out for ya.
