One drawback mentioned with PVP is the lack of tissue to biopsy.  I've had
two urologists tell me that's not an issue because after the PVP they take
some extra tissue to biopsy.  Is this just as good as a "normal" biopsy?
The patient's current PSA is 2.8, if that makes a difference.

Lee,

Are you sure you have that right about "taking extra tissue" after a
PVP?  PVP is not about taking tissue at all, it's about vaporizing it,
burning it up.  What kind of instrument do they use to take the tissue?
A laser destroys tissue, it doesn't retrieve it.

Sorry for the confusing wording.  As I understand it, they go back in with a
TURP-type needle to take the extra tissue samples.
