Contrary to the glowing reports in the Laserscope literature, my urologist
has indicated he wants me admitted for one night.  Is this typical or is my
guy just conservative?

How large is your prostate ??????
because i walked out of hospital 3 hours after PVP removal of 70 gms
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,no real bleeding and no catheter
I suspect your guy is either inexperienced or wants to boost hospital
profits

Your uro is prudent.
A lot will depend on the size of your prostate, the skill of the surgeon and
the time they start lasing.
I was the first and only scheduled for 7 AM. There was a delay with the
arrival of the leased equipment and they started at 9 AM. I was done in an
hour but I could not pee on my own when they removed the catheter around 1
PM. At 2 PM another Foley catheter was inserted. At 5 PM I was feeling good
enough to be released with the catheter in place. I walked 500 yards to the
motel. Next morning the catheter was removed and I could pee, first
hesitantly, then with at bore.
If my operation would have been later in the day, I would have had, very
likely, to spend the night in the hospital.
PVP is surgery and all kind of unplanned events can happen. I'm glad I
allowed a day of safety before flying back home.

Fred and bnd

Many thanks for your responses, guys...on this and on driving.  Most helpful
to hear from folks who have been there!
