Well Jack, tell us about it.
Did you leave surgury without a catether?
Did you go home the same day?
How is the improvement so far?
How is your recovery? Back to normal activity yet?
How about bleeding? Do you have any?

I am interested also. There is no PVP doctor in my area but there is one
doing Indigo laser. Am very interested in hearing about your experience,
either on- or off-line.

As i understand it from the PVP doc in the UK ........he too feels all
previous forms of laser therapy have had major drawbacks/side effects which
thankfully Green light laser or PVP does not suffer from

Is there enough data on the long-term effectiveness of PVP to support a
urologist recommending it over ILC? I'm guessing, but PVP hasn't been
around very long, has it? I ask not for myself (I've had my ILC), but for
two friends who are looking for help with their BPH in the near future.
Also, they live in large metropolitan areas, in both of which there is only
one uro offering PVP, and many offering ILC.

I had an ILC about 2.5 yrs ago. Some improvement in first 6mos - 1 yr but
now I'm almost back to as bad as pre-ILC. Plan to contact Dr. Te in NYC in
next month or so to see about a PVP. Jim W.

I went through Laseroptic (Indigo) on the 25th of june but so far
there has been no improvement. Actually I am worse off now however the
Dr. has told me that things will get better. I have an appointment
with him tomorrow to discuss my problems which are, feeling like I
have to urinate about ever hour(I get up every 2 to 2 1/2 hours at
night). Even after I urinate I stll stand there feeling as if I'm not
done. Sometimes I stand there for 5 minutes. There is almost a reflex
that wants to push it out which is very painfuland nothing actually
comes out except a drip or two of blood. There is also a terrible pain
in the tip of the penis and a burning sensation. I can't run because
of the pain it causes in the tip of the penis. Internally there was
no pain what so ever. I had a cathater (sp)in for three days but ended
up removing it myself (a story in itself!) My flow is somewhat better,
actually a lot better most of the time but I tend to dribble on my
underpants and I can still see spots of blood. The Dr gave me Flomax
to take and I think that this might be adding to the problem. He said
that he may also give me another perscription to releive the pressure
and urgency. He also said that another cathater might solve the
problem but I told him no way! I think that was the worst part of the
whole procedure. I'm not saying that this doesn't work all I'm saying
is that the recovery period seems to be quite long. I'm 4 weeks into
it so far and as I said it's worse than it hqas ever been. One other
thing there is blood in my semen but he said not to worry about that.
