I had a TUNA about 2 yrs ago and it worked great. My uro suggested I
continue taking proscar to avoid reoccurrence of BPH which I have been
doing. I would like to stop taking proscar as I believe it lowers libido.
Did anyone else get similar advice after PVP, TUNA or other procedures?
Anyone have any thoughts. I don't want a reoccurrence of BPH and I don't
want to continue on proscar.
ask uro about avodart.

Doesn't make sense to me to have the operation and then to remain on meds.
My PVP doctor said that after a reasonable recovery, there is no reason to
put off returning to a normal lifestyle pre-BPH...and I have done just
that...No prostate meds at all and I indulge in any food or beverage I want.
In my opinion, that is why I opted for the surgery instead of suffering with
Proscar, Flomax/Uroxatrol, hand fulls of Saw Palmetto, Pygeum, Beta
Sitosterol, and constantly worrying if I was taking enough meds to "avoid a
problem" and what the long-term side effects would be. I was nuts with
anxiety trying to avoid an operation by taking meds galore and reading
everything I could find about BPH and various therapies. Nuts on that.
There is much more to life. My philosophy now is: enjoy life with the
fewest meds possible, (and that includes the fewest herbals), ...I'll get
another PVP later if I need one. No big deal. Wishing you all the best
with your situation.
