I live in a rural area and the nearest PVP treatment available is several hundred miles away. My uro tells me there is no difference in the end result using another laser treatment (sorry, can't remember it's name) available at our local hospital. Any comments re PVP (green light) vs any other laser treatment? Thanks much! Mike If he's talking about the Indigo laser treatment (ILC) I can tell you for me there was a hell of a difference. The ILC, with a difficult recovery, gave me about 6 months partial relief. The PVP, with a very easy recovery, has virtually cured me. I would have a consultation, by phone if necessary, with one or more uros who do PVP. Ask them if the treatments are comparable. By all means, don't be subject to your own doctor's limitations. I had holmium laser surgery and it was a very rapid and uneventful recovery. PVP is newer and equipment is marketed very agressively. The main benefit of all lasers is that they cauterize very well and recovery is almost completely bloodless. TURP on the other hand is very bloody. I do not know any other laser treatment but the result of my PVP, green light, did on 8/17/05 was great. No more Flomax or Cardular after taking them for 6 years and pee like a teen now.
